Kaiser Permanente Behavioral Health Center
Adult & Pediatric Outpatient Psychiatric Services | 14,000 SF | 2018
DALY CITY, CALIFORNIA Tenant improvements and interior design for an existing 14,000 SF building space to serve relocated Adult & Pediatric Outpatient Programs, including new Classroom/Group Therapy Rooms, Consulting and Administrative Offices. KMD developed a design that meets the functional intent to separate the two populations with a shared reception function and the waiting room design that clearly suggests natural separation of populations through design cues, with dedicated pediatric activity zones. Two portal entries provide access to two consultation zones beyond with shared therapy rooms and staff support spaces between. The KMD design supported Kaiser Permanente workflow requirements, met the budget and code requirements. Wayfinding and branding cohesion were an important aspect of the concept to ease the patient experience because the program is split on two floors.
